The chamber's board member and chairman of the Industry and Energy Committee, Ibrahim bin Mohammed al-Sheikh, opened Wednesday's workshop that is entitled "The rules and terminology of international trade."

He pointed out that exporting is one of the most important indicators of the economical development of a country, and a measure of its impact on the global economy, as the growth of exports and increase in size supports the increase in domestic production, employment opportunities, foreign exchange provision, and improve balance of payments balance.

Therefore, exportation is of great importance within the objectives of the vision of the Kingdom of 2030, increasing Saudi non-oil exports from 16% to 50% of non-oil GDP.

Al-alsheikh said that Asharqia Chamber, in partnership with the Saudi Export Development Authority, hold these workshops as the Committee recognizes the importance of raising the awareness of the exporters in the Eastern Region of the strong role of exports in the entry of domestic commodities into world markets, and therefore the need to know the rules and terminology used in the international trade system, as well as increasing the number of trade transactions and their differences among countries, in addition to awareness of the steps to be taken to protect trademarks and the best ways to deal with the complexities of international pricing and the study of pricing positions and decisions faced by companies in international marketing. In return, this supports the Saudi products in the international markets and increases their competitive quality, which reflects the status and quality of the Saudi product.

Furthermore, the director of the training of exporters in the Authority, Thani Al-Ahmad, mentioned that the workshops are part of the package of activities and programs offered by the Authority to encourage the national export system by raising the level and readiness of export to enterprises and developing the capabilities of exporters through modern training programs and advanced workshops.

The workshop "terminology of international trade" dealt with a set of principles for the interpretation of international trade terms; with a view to reducing or eliminating the uncertainties arising from different interpretations in the countries of the world. It is because a proper understanding of these terms would assist the exporter in determining the costs, risks and obligations between the buyer and the seller in the import and export transactions, in addition to introducing the trainees on the terms of the contract of sale, the terms of delivery in international trade and fixing the selling price.

Moreover, the workshop "how to protect your brand internationally" discusses the importance of the brand and its contribution to enhancing quality and trade efficiency, as well as consumer attitudes and its relevance to product quality and relevance.

It also defines the types of trademarks as the difference between a product and the other, its value in the marketing, promotion and protection of products, as well as the commercial and legal value of its registration rights locally or globally through international registration programs administered by the World Intellectual Property Organization. This workshop also addresses the strategies of brand building for one or several products, and the possibility of multiple means of protection such as forms, characteristics, and industrial designs.

The workshop "International Pricing" will be held on Thursday from 9 am to 4 pm at the headquarter of the Chamber.
